About the event
Rising Waters Collective invites you to The Price of Place, an evening of film and community dialogue at the Historic Lynwood Theatre on Bainbridge Island, a community that knows firsthand the pressures of displacement and rapid change.
We will screen two short documentaries from Vanishing Seattle: Bush Garden, about the beloved Japanese American restaurant that stood for decades as a cultural anchor in Seattle's Chinatown-International District, and Queer the Land, the story of a changing neighborhood, a tenacious community, and an unwavering dream.
Alongside the screenings, a community panel featuring representatives from House Our Neighbors and Mary's Place will dig into the questions these films raise about culture, affordability, identity, and who gets to stay.
