About the event

In a working art studio and gallery in downtown Seattle, the tools of creation share space with the debris of a shared life. Elle, a celebrated artist in her 60s, has returned to the studio she once shared with her late partner. Her purpose is practical: close accounts, sort messages, bring order to the chaos left behind.

But the digital world resists closure. Voicemails replay unbidden. Photos surface without warning. The familiar ping of an incoming message, though impossible, echoes in the air. What begins as a day of tying loose ends dissolves into a one-sided dialogue with the past, each fragment pulling her further into memory’s undertow.

This contemporary adaptation of La voix humaine transforms the phone call into a deeply internal monologue. There is no one on the other end—only the persistent, inescapable record of a shared life now gone. Technology becomes both witness and accomplice, blurring the line…
