About the event

Vox: Halfway to Herself

In a pop-up shop in Seattle's South Lake Union, a woman’s long-awaited fresh start is interrupted by a phone call she thought she’d never receive.

Haunting yet hopeful, this intimate re-imagining of Poulenc and Cocteau’s The Human Voice unfolds for whoever happens to be there — no tickets, no seating, no stage. Just the raw immediacy of survival, set to music.

Featuring soprano Heather Dudenbostel, pianist Mark Davies, and directed by Julia Benzinger with a contemporary English adaptation by Isaiah Bell.

Come as you are. Stay as long, or as briefly, as you wish.

This is disruptive performance art in its purest form—no tickets, no seats, no fixed audience. Vox: Halfway to Herself unfolds in the open air, inviting anyone to pause, witness, and move through as they wish. All are welcome; just remember we share this space with passing strangers and nearby businesses.
